FUNdamento: Shape + Direction = Flow with Kelley Knickerbocker

Andamento is the order and arrangement of the pieces (tesserae) in a mosaic, and is essential to how a mosaic will “read” to the viewer. We often think of the central design elements of a mosaic as the art, and backgrounds as simply spaces to be filled around them. But in fact, with a little intent backgrounds can be rich, dense, lush complements to our central design elements.

In this fun, info-packed intensive class of lecture, demo, and hands-on practice, Kelley shares her approaches to her favorite background andamenti, from simple to complex, and provides step-by-step guidance to making every inch of your mosaic backgrounds artful.
