Want to create that one special treasure for your next hunt? Make an amazing bejeweled Easter (or spring celebration) egg while learning how to mosaic using the direct method!  In this three hour class you will learn the ins and outs of creating beautiful mosaic surfaces on 3-D objects using glass tiles and thin-set cement. Leave your completed eggs with us and we’ll take care of all the messy grouting.

Class includes:

  • Simple glass cutting techniques, with emphasis on how to make very small cuts
  • Learn how to work with and nip glass and ceramic tiles
  • Tricks for working in the Direct Method, where each piece of tesserae is adhered directly onto the sculptural form.
  • Materials to make 1 egg – choose from a variety of sizes; additional eggs available if time allows, at an individual price per piece

Intro to Mosaics September 2015Veronica Mortellaro has been a loved and vital part of the Seattle Mosaic Arts team since 2014. She is skilled in teaching and encouraging creativity in artists of all levels and confidence. Veronica studied art at Colorado State University and has an ongoing creative practice when she is not teaching or nipping glass here at the studio. She is currently working on a series of figures using ink as her medium.
